- Southwest Conservation Corps, founded as a nonprofit agency in 1998, provides young women and men with various educational opportunities through employment projects. It offers projects that promote personal growth and development of social skills. The agency annually serves more than 250 individuals through a variety of programs. Southwest Conservation Corps provides a range of programs, including leadership and backcountry programs, day crews, and front country and community corps programs. The agency operates from its headquarters in Durango, Colo., with other offices in Tucson, Ariz., and Alamosa, Colo. Its range of projects includes fuels reduction, erosion control, tree planting, trail building, fencing and weed removal. Southwest Conservation Corps provides a trained work force for several projects.
