I have been unable to locate an Emotuons Anonomous meeting in the KC area or KS side of state line. Does one exist? If so I would really like to know!

I've been attending Emotions Anonymous for 15 years now. I found it accidentally while doing some research on other 12-step groups in my professional life. I personally haven't used any illegal substances or alcohol for over 26 yrs, but I still have emotional maladies. I have seen so many of my friends over the years struggling with such tragedy that it was too much for them, they either relapsed, and/or took their own lives. I haven't drank alcohol or used illegal drugs for over 26 years myself, but I have had moments of suicidal sadness, and/or homicidal rage. Emotions Anonymous is the one of the few things that has created a medicinal balance for irrational thinking due to my uncontrollable emotions. It has literally become, a life saver.

I use this program as both a personal experience and professional reference. I have been a Mental Health Therapist, Secondary High School Teacher, and TASK Officer during these years of my active recovery, and it was Emotions Anonymous that helped me reach these, thought to be, unattainable goals.

There's a stigma that has developed in 12-step meeting attendance. Many of us have been struggling with such fears in making changes, or trying something new, even if it meant saving our own lives. Here's a quote that has helped me come to a better understanding of this stigma.

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which can not fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance-that principle is contempt prior to investigation."

I attend EA meetings every week. This is not a religious organization. We do not discuss religion. I highly recommend this organization for anyone struggling with their emotions. Find a meeting and attend for a month to understand what it's all about.
